The Pista Predella lies at Predella di San Vittore above Salsomaggiore Terme and, according to the mxcenter.it directory, is run by the Motoclub Salsomaggiore. It is recorded as a first-category track of 1700 metres on hard, stony ground, homologated by UISP and FMI. That entry gives the opening times as Thursdays from 2 pm, Saturdays from 1 pm and Sundays from 12 noon; on Tuesdays the track can be hired if you give three days' notice. There is a bar, a cold shower and a minicross area; no hot shower, no floodlighting and no 220-volt sockets are listed. Hard ground with stones means the track keeps its shape: braking bumps in front of the corners stay put and get sharper over the day instead of filling in. Our own record also holds fast sections and off-camber passages, that is, corners with no supporting edge. Top of our cause list for a fork that feels harsh and deflects on those braking bumps is low-speed compression that is too firm - open it a few clicks so the fork absorbs the small chop.
