Praksice near Uhersky Brod documents its track more precisely than most: about 1350 metres on natural loamy ground, roughly 25 metres of height difference, around 275 metres above sea level, a starting gate for some 36 machines. Riding is Tuesday to Friday 14:00 to 19:00 and weekends 09:00 to 19:00, never on Monday. The most important rule is not in the small print: without a phone call or a text to the operator beforehand, practice is forbidden. There is racing too - the Slovacky pohar has run here for years. Those 1350 metres hold banked turns, climbs, descents and jumps, which is a lot of programme for the length. Ride the track in two halves: get the hilly sequence clean first, then the corners. Trying to learn both at once costs you the afternoon. On loamy ground the usual thing catches you in the ruts: the front knifes in and oversteers. First on our cause list is the fork - too soft, dives too deep, folds away. A little more compression keeps the front up.
