The MSC Nursch track sits in the western Weinviertel in the municipality of Grossmugl, district of Korneuburg. In its preview of an Austrian championship round, the portal 1000PS describes it as a pure natural-terrain track of 1,525 metres with off-camber corners and many climbs and descents; at that point it had already existed for 40 years, and the club chairman is Ewald Schoenhofer. A new tabletop had been added shortly before. All classes of the Austrian motocross championship have been run there - MX Open, MX 2 and MX Youth across six races - with a four-hour moped race the day before. The track directory CrossNews lists training on Wednesday from 13:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 8:00 to 18:00, and also records W4 Cup rounds at the venue. Our record holds an altitude of around 306 metres. A natural-terrain track with this much up and down is decided on the climbs: it is not power that carries you up but whether the rear tyre grips the ground at all, and the off-camber corners in between forgive little once you have lost drive. If the rear spins on a climb, top of our cause list is too much rear tyre pressure: it shrinks the contact patch, and with a mousse you can safely go down until the tyre bites again. Since riding happens on fixed days, plan for a Wednesday or a Saturday rather than dropping by unannounced.
