Motocross Markelo

Two organisations stand behind the track at Markelo: the Stichting Motorcross Markelo and the local motorcycle club Markelose Motorclub Ons Genoegen. Racing takes place on Circuit De Herikerberg; the operator gives Herikeresweg 9 as the riders' entrance and Potdijk 9 as the spectators' entrance in Markelo. The venue is above all an event site: the club points to 90 years of international motocross and stages the Dutch Masters of Motocross, in 2026 on 17 May, plus a Cross Country on 19 September and the Off The Road event on 1 November 2026. The local paper Maarkels Nieuws describes the course as a sand track and the Markelo round as the opener of the series, where alongside the 85cc and 125cc youth classes factory riders line up in MX2 and MX1 and entrants come from more than 20 countries. Regular training times and training fees are not publicly documented. A sand track built for racing goes deep and rutted quickly, and that is where the rear loses its composure first: it comes back too early after a hit and starts to pogo instead of working in the ground. Top of our cause list for that is rebound that is too fast for sand: slow the shock down so the rear wheel stays put.
