Kappermaat near Borculo in the Achterhoek is heavy sand, run by BMAC Borculo together with MC Ruurlo; once a year it hosts a round of the Dutch motocross championship. The practice calendar is tightly drawn: Saturdays 13:30 to 17:00 from March through October, Tuesdays 17:30 to 19:00 from the first Tuesday in April to the third Tuesday in September. From November to February the track is closed. Riding is for members of the two clubs holding a valid KNMV motocross licence, a transponder is mandatory, and you sign in at the canteen. From age 13 there is no day pass, only annual membership; for the five to twelve year olds a day costs 15 euros. Check for a cancellation before you set off - the club decides on ground conditions by 11:00 on Saturdays and by 15:00 on Tuesdays. With heavy sand that is not a formality. And that sand brings the problem that catches nearly everyone: the rear pogos and swims. Top of our cause list is rebound that is too fast at the rear - slow it down, fewer clicks out, and the back stops building up.
