Issarles sits on the D240 in the Ardeche highlands, and the Moto-Club du Plateau Ardechois circuit is organised to match: there are no published opening times. You ring, you ask whether it is open, and then you ride for six euros a day - motocross in France rarely gets cheaper. Without that phone call, though, the drive is easily wasted. The lap is naturally routed; FFM or UFOLEP is required. A track you can only ride by arrangement has one advantage worth using: it is rarely crowded. Give yourself a single theme for the day - braking points, corner exits, body position - instead of counting laps. With a drive like that, structure pays. On the surface we hold for Issarles, the expected problem is this: the front knifes and oversteers in the rut. Top of our cause list is a fork set too soft that rides too deep and folds into the rut - adding compression is the first move.
