One thing you need to know before driving to the Route de la Thiéry: Moto-Club Saint Galmier has closed the track until further notice after a noise complaint from neighbours. That is what the French track directory says, and anyone going anyway should check with the club first whether anything has changed. The key figures should it reopen: 1300 metres, five metres wide, dirt, eight euros a day or seventy euros a year, weekdays 14:00 to 17:00 and weekends 13:30 to 18:30, FFM licence required. A noise complaint is not a side issue. It is one of the most common reasons a European track shuts for good, and it rarely starts on the track itself - it starts in the paddock. If riding resumes here, how people treat the throttle between sessions is part of what decides how long it lasts. As riding goes, the circuit is recorded as technical, and that is where riders lose the engine in the middle of a tight section. First item on our cause list: a dragging clutch or a light flywheel - with a flywheel weight the bike carries low revs without dying.
