Moto Masters sits on US 11 near Parish in upstate New York. Cycle News dates the first AMA National to 18 August 1974: Marty Tripes won the 250cc class on a Husqvarna and Jim Weinert took the 500cc class with both motos; two further 500cc championship rounds followed in 1975 and 1976, with entries such as Gary Jones, Pierre Karsmakers, Tony DiStefano and Tim Hart. The venue is natural terrain, and its best known feature is the Devil's Drop downhill, which becomes Lucifer's Ladder when the track is run in reverse. According to Cycle News, Richard "Bunk" Bristol has owned the track for the past seven years, has rebuilt it for modern machinery with extra jumps and softens the layout for vintage racing; in 2024 Moto Masters marked 50 years of racing with a vintage weekend. The operator advertises sand on its own site and publishes USMX series results there. Neither source states a lap length; our record holds about 2.25 kilometres. Sand eats suspension travel and concentration: the rear works constantly, and in the deep sections it starts to pogo and swim instead of tracking your line. Top of our cause list is rebound that is too fast at the rear - slow it down so the rear stops building itself up between hits.
