Sunset Ridge MX is at 24558 1100 E Street in Walnut, Illinois. The operator publishes its practice days one by one; the midweek date runs under the name Walnut Wednesday and lasts from 9am to 3pm. A practice day costs 40 dollars, no separate gate fee is charged, and practices need no membership. Every rider has to sign the current waiver, minor riders need a parent on site or a notarised guardianship release, and minor spectators need a parental waiver. Registration and check-in happen at the Concession Building. For racing the venue runs its own series, the Sunset Stampede, and for the day's status the operator points riders to its track line. Our record lists loam over a length of about 2,575 metres, plus a fast circuit with jumps. Loam gives grip as long as it stays damp and cuts deep ruts through the day - and that is exactly where it is decided whether you stay clean on the throttle or lose the line. For this surface, top of our cause list is a fork riding too soft: it dives too deep in the rut and knifes. Add a few clicks of front compression before you touch anything else.
