Renamed twice and still on the same creek: Innovative MX became Buffalo Valley MX, which became Creekside MX - a site on FM 2538 near Marion, between San Antonio and Seguin. The layout is deliberately tiered: a kids track, a beginner track and an intermediate main track, plus around 1.5 miles of creekside trails with elevation changes. It runs Saturday and Sunday 9:00 to 16:00, weather permitting; big bikes pay 30 dollars, small bikes 25, spectators 5. Dry camping on Saturday night is allowed, quads are not, and nobody rides without a signed waiver. Use the tiering instead of skipping it. The beginner track here is not a warm-up, it is the place where you can ride one corner twenty times the same way. You cannot do that on the main course, because something interrupts every lap - and without repetition you never see whether a setup change actually did anything. What catches you on loamy clay once the ruts set in: the front oversteers and knifes away. First on our cause list is the fork riding too low - add compression and it stops folding in.
