Three courses on one site on County Road 3711 east of Dallas: Athens Motocross Park runs an original track with a hybrid layout, tall loamy berms and over twenty jumps and obstacles, a national-style track on one of the highest points in East Texas, and a pure corner track in sand that stays rideable after almost any rain. That three-way split is the reason to come: in one day you can separate berms, jumps and cornering instead of blending all of it into a single lap. Our advice for the visit: start on the corner track, not on the national layout. Work the first laps through the sand berms and your body and your eyes are sorted before you take on the twenty obstacles of the main course. Do it the other way round and you collect your mistakes exactly where they get expensive. On loamy clay with worn-in ruts nearly everyone gets caught in the same place: the front knifes and oversteers. Top of our cause list is a fork that is too soft - it rides too low and knifes into the rut, so add compression. One honest note on status: one directory lists the park as open, another as closed, and the operator domain quoted in the past no longer answers. Call before you load the trailer.
