The Central Ohio Competition Riders have been going since 1967, and the club is still run entirely by volunteers. The site on Buckeye Road in Sugar Grove covers about 100 acres with a main track, a peewee track and several miles of woods trail; the main track is groomed and watered regularly. The ground is mostly loose, there are many small jumps and a few large ones, and berms throughout. Admission is 10 dollars per person and the rider fee 20 dollars, with a concession stand, vault toilets and plenty of room for parking and primitive camping. Riding happens on selected weekends - regular access needs membership, but open practice dates spread across the year are available to visitors too. A club ground rides differently from a commercial park: the main track is the smaller part of what is here, the woods trails the larger. Plan the woods for while you are fresh - they punish fatigue harder than any motocross lap. The classic problem in tight technical sections: the engine stalls. Top of our cause list is a dragging clutch or a flywheel that is too light - a flywheel weight or a clean clutch setup takes the low-rpm stalling away.
