Circuit Mont-Tremblant in the Laurentides north of Montreal opened in August 1964 with a short 1.560 mile (2.510 km) layout and was extended to 2.65 miles in 1965. RacingCircuits gives the full circuit today as 2.647 miles or 4.260 km; there is also a North circuit of 1.529 miles (2.460 km) and a South circuit of 1.187 miles (1.910 km). The Canadian Grand Prix visited in 1968 and 1970 - McLaren took a one-two in 1968, Jacky Ickx won for Ferrari in 1970. In 2000 Lawrence Stroll bought the venue and had it rebuilt to FIA standards under Alan Wilson; it reopened in 2002, with the crest on the back straight known as The Hump lowered considerably. Today the circuit runs mainly historic events, among them the Spring, Summer and Fall Classics and the Sommet des Legendes. Our record holds a technical character. A circuit that runs over crests and through changing radii asks for a clean turn-in at every apex; if the bike will not hold the tight line and runs wide on exit, it costs you time every single lap. Top of our cause list is too little rear ride height: the geometry goes lazy and the front will not pull into the corner. Raise the rear, or drop the front, to sharpen the turn-in.
