The Velke Uherce circuit has had two lives. The first began in the late 1960s in the Cernakova area: competitions from 1969, rounds of the Slovak championship from 1973 to 1984. Money trouble ended it, until enthusiasts rebuilt the venue in 1987 in the Vinohrad locality above the village. Today Motoclub Velke Uherce, chaired by Jozef Foltan, runs the ground. Practice is Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for 5 euros; weekends are closed after complaints from residents. Those three days are not a suggestion, they are the whole week. The layout is listed as technical with jumps. Plan your day around the jumps, but practise the approaches in the technical bits before them - come out of a tight section badly and you have ruined the face before you can see it. Off jump faces the bike likes to kick and buck. Front of our cause list is rear rebound: it returns too fast and throws the rear up. A few clicks slower and the machine leaves quietly.
