TT Circuit Assen

TT Circuit Assen is the longest-serving venue on the motorcycle world championship calendar. The operator dates the first Dutch TT to 11 July 1925, run back then on a 28.4 kilometre road triangle between Rolde, Borger and Schoonloo. In 1955 the permanent circuit was built on Assen ground, initially 7.7 kilometres long. In 1982 pits, a timekeeping building and VIP facilities were added; in 1989 the track was widened from seven to ten metres and then measured 6.049 kilometres; in 2010 a changed routing at the Rushoek shortened it again. Wikipedia lists today's Grand Prix layout at 4.555 kilometres with 18 corners, and the site holds around 110,000 spectators, 60,000 of them seated. The Dutch TT has been held every year since 1949 with the exception of 2020; World Superbike has raced here since 1992 and the British Superbike championship since 2012. In 2019, 167,000 spectators attended, the highest figure to that point. Our record lists a fast character with a technical share, and that is exactly what the riding feel hangs on: in long sweepers taken at speed, any restlessness in the chassis shows up immediately. If the bike goes vague there and will not hold its line, top of our cause list is a ride-height and sag balance that is off: set sag first, before you touch compression or rebound.
