Switchback Raceway

Switchback Raceway is at 2469 William Flynn Highway in Butler, Pennsylvania. Open practice runs Thursdays from 4pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm; Sunday is closed, and on the remaining days the track can only be booked as a whole. A practice day costs 35 dollars per rider, plus an annual waiver fee of 15 dollars, with a further 3.5 percent on card payments. Track rental costs 300 dollars for two hours with up to eight riders, 475 dollars for three hours with up to ten riders and 600 dollars for four hours with up to twelve riders, with 35 dollars for each additional rider. A non-refundable deposit of 100 dollars is due on booking, and a cancellation inside 48 hours is charged in full. For racing the operator publishes its own rulebook as a download and takes pre-registration. Our record lists a hard surface with jumps as well as tight, technical sections - a combination in which front grip gets scarce as soon as the ground dries out and goes slick. Top of our cause list for that is too much air in the front tyre: take pressure out so the contact patch grows and the front gives you feedback again.
