Road America

Road America near Elkhart Lake in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, opened on 10 September 1955 and is owned and operated by Road America, Inc. The Grand Prix course measures 4.048 miles (6.515 kilometres) with 14 turns and still runs in its original configuration; the motorcycle layout used since 2003 is 4.000 miles long with 15 turns. The site covers 640 acres and, according to the operator, holds more than 150,000 spectators, largely on open hillsides. The motorcycle calendar carries the MotoAmerica Superbikes with the Vintage MotoFest, the operator runs track days, test days and motorcycle schools, and the attached motorplex hosts autocross, drifting, karting and supermoto. The superbike lap record stands at 2:09.025, set in 2023 by Josh Herrin on a Ducati Panigale V4 R. The circuit rides fast and undulating: many elevation changes, a long front straight where speeds approaching 200 mph are reached, and in the Kink a section taken close to flat out. That is exactly where you notice it the moment the bike goes vague at speed and will not sit still on its line. Top of our cause list for that is ride-height and sag balance being off - set sag properly first, before you touch damping.
