Riv3r Hard Enduro Crossing (Veria)

Riv3r Hard Enduro Crossing is not a permanent circuit but a hard enduro competition in the mountains near Veria in Central Macedonia. According to the entry details published by BalkanHardEnduro it runs over three days: a prologue in the city on the first evening, a 60 kilometre mountain race with three hard stages near the city on the second day, and a river race with two courses on the third. Riders are split into Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron, around 150 competitors are expected, the entry fee is 200 Euro, and a national licence with a starting licence or a Greek licence is required. GPS is not allowed, SuperSoft tyres are recommended, the event counts towards the FIM Enduro Extreme Cup, and the 2023 edition ran from 7 to 10 September. Tour operator Ride Xpower rides the same trails on guided weeks (five or seven days, 1340 and 1850 Euro respectively, deposit due at booking) and names September to November and March to May as the best season. No openly accessible practice session is publicly documented. The ground keeps changing: BalkanHardEnduro lists river, rock, wet rock, hot hard ground, forest and slippery forest within one event, and Ride Xpower describes the region with long climbs and descents up to around 2000 metres. We have the venue on file as technical, tight and off-camber, which means plenty of sections you solve at walking pace rather than with momentum - and that is exactly where the engine dies most often. Top of our cause list for that is the clutch: if it drags, or if the flywheel is too light, revs collapse before you can react - a flywheel weight or a properly adjusted clutch keeps the motor alive down low.
