About 50 kilometres east of Reno, straight off Interstate 80, lies Reno Fernley Raceway - a multi-format site with a road course, a drift course, a 3/8-mile clay oval, a UTV short course and the motocross track that was added in 2020. The MX course is, in the operator's own words, built by riders for riders, covers beginner to pro and has its own kids track; starts go off a concrete pad with rearward-falling individual gates. The venue sits at 1,266 metres, on roughly 160 acres with five miles of trail. Worth planning around: the main gate is chained much of the time, and the track opens mainly on race weekends. Check dates first or you will be standing in front of a padlock. Sources disagree about the ground - some call it a pure sand track free of rock, others dry hardpack with sandy sections. Our record therefore still says hardpack, and that is what the most common rider complaint points at: the front feels vague and finds too little grip. First on our list is too much front pressure - let some out for a bigger contact patch.
