Perris Raceway

Perris Raceway on Burton Road in Perris, California, is operated by WTP Motorsports and calls itself the oldest motocross track in the state, founded in 1954; the facility was recently renovated. There are three tracks: the main track, a vet track and a pee-wee course. The practice plan is split by day and by class. Tuesday is Mini Night for riders 17 and under on bikes up to 112cc, Wednesday runs big bikes from 125cc up, Friday belongs to pit bikes, each with gates at 16:45 and track time from 17:00 to 22:00. On the weekend the gate opens at 6:00 and riding runs from 7:00 to 12:00. Weekday entry costs 40 dollars, weekend entry 50 dollars for big bikes, 25 dollars for pee wee and 10 dollars for Stacyc; military and first responders pay 25 dollars. Gates close half an hour after the track closes. Full motocross apparel is required, and golf carts as well as three- and four-wheeled vehicles are not allowed on the property. Our record describes the character as tight, technical corners with jumps, and on short layouts like this one the sharpness of turn-in decides how cleanly you get through the corner. When the bike will not hold a tight line, top of our cause list is too little rear ride height making the steering lazy: raise the rear or drop the front, and the front wheel pulls into the corner again.
