Track details
Dry clay rides almost like concrete: hard, polished, little mechanical grip.
Wet clay is extremely slippery and packs into the knobs - gentle throttle, clean lines.
McLarty MX Park sits at 4015 County Highway 35 in Horton, Alabama. The operator describes the ground itself as an own blend of Alabama red clay, wood shavings and sandy loam, a recipe meant to hold moisture and keep dust down. There is no fixed weekly schedule: the operation states outright that it runs no preset daily plan and points you to its Facebook page or a phone call for current practice times, with gates opening on announced Saturdays and Sundays. Camping is welcome, ground fires are banned, RV spots with power and water hookups are reserved by text message, and food is available on site. Pit bike riding is not permitted on the property. Announced for 2026 are races on September 5, plus September 6 and October 3 as rounds of the SHA Series. The operator states no track length. Ground that is deliberately kept moist builds deep, grippy ruts over the day. That gives you plenty of side support but forgives no sloppy line, because the front wheel hooks into the rut instead of sliding out. If it knifes in and oversteers on you there, top of our cause list is a fork set too soft that rides too deep in the stroke and folds into the rut. Add compression at the front.
