Freestone County Raceway

Freestone County Raceway sits near Wortham, Texas on the 1150 acre Miller Ranch, which the operator dates back to 1853; the raceway itself was founded in 2000 as Freestone County Raceway L.L.C. The national track was built in 2007 for rounds of the US pro series, and the calendar also carries the Texas State Championship, the Spring Championship and racing under the lights. In 2015 the AMA named the promoter Motocross Organizer of the Year. Riding happens in organised blocks at the weekend; one example from the calendar runs Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm. On selected Sundays there is amateur supercross practice from 10am to 2pm at 40 US dollars per rider, signed up online through pre-registration, and minors may only ride with a guardian present. Besides the motocross and supercross tracks there is a vintage motocross and cross-country course. Our record has clay as the surface, with fast sections and plenty of jumps. Clay carries well while it is damp and then pulls deep ruts over the course of a day, ruts the front wheel knifes into instead of tracking through. Top of our cause list for that is a fork riding too deep in its travel and folding into the rut - add compression up front until it sits higher.
