Fast Traxx Motoplex (Nelsonville)

Fast Traxx Motoplex sits on Warren Drive south of Nelsonville in south-eastern Ohio and is run as a family business. The operator describes three uses: a supercross track raced on Saturday nights under lights - practice from 6pm, racing after - plus motocross and a Grand Prix course that strings woods, grass, fields and motocross sections together. The GP course measures 3.5 miles at an average of ten feet wide and is fully prepped; a GP session runs five laps and takes an average of 40 to 45 minutes. On GP weekends riding runs Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm, and the gate already opens at 5pm on Friday. Admission is 25 dollars for the whole weekend or 15 dollars for a single day, children four and under free; entry is 30 dollars for the first class. The operator explicitly does not require an AMA or club membership, and payment is cash or check only. Primitive camping is available without booking; there is no fresh water and no RV dump. A floodlit supercross and a long off-road course ask two different things of the suspension, and the jump faces of the SX section are the harder test: if the rear comes back too fast off the face, it throws you forward in the air. Top of our cause list for that is rebound set too fast at the rear - slow it a few clicks before you take the lit track at race pace for the first time.
