Track details
Dry sand gets deep and physical - the front wants to knife in; traction comes from throttle and the rear suspension.
Damp sand hooks up and gets faster - more grip, but heavier, blunt braking zones.
A family operation on Green Swamp Road in Bolton - and the ambition is still national: County Line MX is built as a national-class track. Around two minutes of lap time filled with jumps from plain singles up to a 135-foot quad, and yet laid out so that everything from a 50 to a 450 can get round it. The real ace is not in the layout but in the plumbing: the irrigation system is among the best in the region. For you that means less dust and ground that carries through the day instead of going bare after two hours - exactly the window in which lines break down at other places. If you still have grip in the afternoon, you can still learn something in the afternoon. It opens every weekend for open practice from 10am to 6pm, with weekdays added as the seasons change. If you want to get better rather than just turn laps, a pro-licensed instructor teaches on site, from beginner to advanced. On sand the problem is always the same: the rear pogos and swims as soon as it goes deep. Top of our cause list is shock rebound set too fast. Slow it down, a few clicks fewer out, and the pogoing stops - the rear starts following your line again.
