Circuito Motocross Madrid Park - Valdemorillo

Fourteen hectares on the M-600 near Valdemorillo, 35 kilometres out of Madrid, split into four independent circuits - from a kids' loop to the main track. The site is run by Julio Lopez; it opens Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and a day costs 20 euros. There are toilets, but no bar, no wash area and no timing. Bikes can be rented on site for children, which makes the place workable for families; the jumps are what riders rate highest. Four circuits on one site are an opportunity and a trap at once. The opportunity: you can drill one element in isolation instead of meeting it once a lap. The trap: spend the day commuting between tracks and you learn none of them. Pick one in the morning and stay with it. On jump faces you see immediately whether the rear works or kicks: the bike bucks instead of leaving cleanly.
