Circuit Moto Cross du Hinterberg (Mothern)

The Circuit du Hinterberg on the Route de Lauterbourg in Mothern belongs to the Moto Club de Mothern in the far north-east of Alsace. According to mxcircuit.fr the track is 1700 metres long and 8 metres wide, the ground is earth and sand, a day costs 8 euros, and next to the main track there is a separate children's course; only motorcycles are admitted. Riding runs on Saturdays from 9am to noon and from 1pm to 6pm, on Sundays and public holidays from 9am to 1pm. The club itself points out that an FFM licence is compulsory, that it closes the track in bad weather and that in dusty conditions it takes watering breaks of roughly an hour; last-minute changes to the hours go on its Facebook page. The club races classes from 50 to 450cc plus women, veterans, classic and sidecar cross. Sandy ground gives under load, the rear works constantly, and if it springs back too fast it pogos across the whoops instead of following the line. Top of our cause list for a rear that pogos in sand is rebound that is too fast - slow it down so the rear stays down and uses the grip the ground actually offers.
