The Bachmatten track near Bergheim in Alsace belongs to the Moto Club de Bergheim, listed by the track directory mxcircuit.fr with Charles Greiner as its president. It sits on the D42 heading towards the motorway and is open all year: Saturdays from 1:30 pm to 6 pm, Sundays and public holidays from 9 am to 6 pm, Wednesdays from 9 am to 1 pm on request. A day costs 8 euros on Saturday, 10 euros on Sundays and public holidays, and 5 euros for the children's track. An FFM or UFOLEP licence is required. Alongside the 1,280 metre long and 4 metre wide main dirt course there is a supercross section, a dirt and pit bike track and a separate children's course; motorcycles, dirt bikes and pit bikes are allowed. Four metres of width over 1,280 metres leaves little room to move off a line, and the supercross part puts the jumps close together. If the rear kicks off the face and throws you sideways in the air, top of our cause list is rebound returning too fast at the rear - slow it down and the bike stays settled on the lip.
