Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture has belonged to Honda since 1962 and has been operated by Honda Mobilityland since 2006. It was designed by John Hugenholtz and opened in September 1962. According to Wikipedia the Grand Prix layout is 5.807 kilometres long with 18 turns. Its distinguishing feature is the figure-of-eight: the 1.2 kilometre back straight crosses over the front section on an overpass - it is the only FIA Grade 1 licensed track with this layout. The Japanese Grand Prix of Formula One runs here, as does the Suzuka 8 Hours since 1978 and rounds of Super Formula; a 1000 kilometre endurance race was part of the programme for years as well. The venue seats 155,000 spectators. Along the long back straight and through the fast sweepers before it the bike works deep into its travel, and that is exactly where you find out whether the load split front to rear is right. If the machine starts to weave at high speed, our cause list points first at a rear sitting too high: the ride-height and sag balance is not set. Set sag before you change anything on the damping.
