Preston Docks MX is a sand track in Preston, Lancashire. The operator states that the venue has been going for over 20 years and has been run by Lee since 2024; riding takes place year-round, midweek as well as at weekends, and the track is graded regularly before sessions. Facilities include a bike wash, toilets, refreshments with an indoor eating area, a kids track, plus medical cover and marshalling. Rounds of the ACU British Motocross Championship and NORA competitions are held here, and the venue can also be hired for private events. The operator gives no track length - our records hold around 1,770 metres. Freshly graded sand is soft and deep at the start of a session and works itself into ruts and waves as the day goes on; the rear swims and pogos once it returns too quickly. Top of our cause list for a pogoing rear in deep sand is rebound that is too fast for sand - slow it down with fewer clicks out so the rear stops building up.
