The Owyhee Motorcycle Club on Cartwright Road in Boise is among the oldest motorsports organisations in southwest Idaho: founded in 1940 and AMA-chartered, its grounds were added to the National Register of Historic Places in October 2022. The club is member-supported, but states plainly that you do not have to be a member to race at its events; practice and competition are open to all skill levels. Alongside the full-sized motocross facility, which sits at roughly 2,400 feet of elevation, there is a technical trials area with natural obstacles. The club reports the state of the track itself; in June 2026 it stated that all sections were rideable. Practice times, fees and track length are not documented on the club site; our record lists the surface as loam. You ride the trials area with its natural obstacles at walking pace, and a stalled engine is the constant companion there: tight radii, barely any revs, a lot of clutch work. Top of our cause list for an engine dying in tight technical going is a dragging clutch or a flywheel that is too light. A flywheel weight or a cleanly adjusted clutch takes the problem away at low rpm.
