Mountain West MX Park lies near Mona in central Utah, about seven miles west of I-15 exit 244, and has been running since 2006. The site covers roughly 100 acres and carries several layouts - a big-bike track and a peewee loop. The main course uses the terrain rather than flattening it: climbs and descents shape the lap, with step-up jumps and downhill runs. The venue sits between 1,460 and 1,520 metres. Riding last cost 20 dollars, 5 dollars for 70cc and under; quads are not allowed and camping is available. On soil, the directories report sand with a mix, while our record says hardpack. We did not overwrite it, we noted it - a second-hand figure does not replace a measured one. Just as important before you set off: reports on operating status contradict each other. Call before you load up. Where the ground goes up, you lose traction before you lose power - the rear spins on the climb and digs itself in. First on our cause list is too much rear pressure: drop it, the contact patch grows and the grip comes back. With a mousse that is risk-free.
