The Moto-Club Berck site on the Pas-de-Calais coast is a natural layout on sandy soil covering around 10,000 square metres, commissioned between 1985 and 1994. Motorcycles, quads and sidecars are all allowed out - a combination you rarely find stated so openly. It is open Wednesday and Saturday from 14:00 to 18:00, Sunday and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00; you pay 5 euros a day or 40 euros a year, with an FFM or UFOLEP licence. Those 40 euros for a whole year are the reason to approach this place differently from one you visit once: at that price it pays to practise a single thing in a day and come back, rather than chasing the whole lap every time. On a fast sand layout this is the feeling that turns up first: vague and unstable as soon as you carry speed through the long sweepers. Top of our cause list is sag - if the ride-height and sag balance is off, the bike goes soggy at speed. Set the sag before you turn a single clicker.
