Mobility Resort Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture is owned by Honda Motor and has been run by Honda Mobilityland since 2006. It opened on 17 August 1997 and was called Twin Ring Motegi until March 2022. According to Wikipedia the Grand Prix road course measures 4.801 kilometres with 14 turns; there is also an East course of 3.400 kilometres with eleven turns and a West course of 1.400 kilometres with six turns. The site further holds the Honda Collection Hall, a karting track and a 402 metre dirt oval. It hosts the Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix plus rounds of Super GT and Super Formula; the IndyCar Series raced on the speedway oval from 1998 to 2011, and that oval is now being dismantled. Spectator capacity is given as 68,156. The layout rides stop-and-go: Wikipedia describes it as a straight-and-hairpin sequence and as exceptionally flat, with only a slight rise towards the hairpin. That means hard braking points, tight apexes and almost no momentum handed to you by the terrain - if your turn-in is untidy, every hairpin costs you. If your bike will not hold a tight line, top of our cause list is too little rear ride height: the steering goes lazy when the rear sits low. Raise the rear or drop the front and the bike turns in more sharply.
