First things first so you do not plan this wrong: Greasy Bend Off-Road Park on Meade Road near Batesville is not a motocross course. The operator describes the place as an ATV and UTV venue - 1,200 acres with several miles of White River frontage, plus mud, sand, bluffs, rocky trails and gravel pits, and an obstacle course for rock crawling. There is no classic motocross layout with a jump sequence; the site lives off trails and elevation change. It opens on weekends, Friday morning through Sunday evening, and night riding is explicitly allowed. Riding costs 20 dollars per person, children 10 and under are free, a camping spot is 15 dollars, and entry and parking are free. If you bring a motocross bike, plan it like a trail day rather than a session: tools with you, gearing in mind, and the rocky sections treated with respect rather than speed. Rock does not punish the wrong line, it punishes the wrong speed on the right one. On loamy clay ground and in worn-in ruts the most common problem is the front knifing. First on our cause list: the fork rides too low and folds into the rut - firm up the compression.
