When a track is the oldest in an entire state, there is a reason for it. Echeconnee MX in Lizella, a quarter of an hour from Macon, counts as Georgia's oldest and longest continuously running motocross course. Around 2400 metres with natural elevation, and the calendar holds more than regional racing: the Kings Cup, a Loretta Lynn area qualifier, an ATV national, the Georgia State Championship and the Vet Masters Championship. One point to read on our side and then check with the operator: we file the ground as clay, while the region calls Echeconnee the sand box among southeastern facilities. Which one is true today is decided by the last rebuild - ask before you commit to a tyre choice. More important for your planning: it is not open riding whenever you fancy it. The park opens for selected practices and for events, and stays shut otherwise. Turn up on spec and you will be standing at the gate. And take the elevation seriously. Natural terrain does not forgive a uniform lap: uphill you need traction, downhill you need control, and pulling both out of the same setup is the real job of the day - not the biggest jump.
