The Electric City Dirt Riders are based on Rainbow Dam Road in Black Eagle, about three miles northeast of Great Falls, Montana. The club grounds hold a 1.15-mile motocross track, a 0.71-mile supercross course and a generous trail and practice area looking out over the Missouri River. The history runs deep: the first course was built in the late 1960s as a flat track, motocross followed, and in 1988 the group incorporated and bought the land outright. A working membership costs 180 dollars and a ride day 10 dollars. Non-members must come as the guest of a member and pay a small day-use fee. Two courses on one site means, above all, two rhythms. The supercross section demands short, precise approaches; the MX track long, flowing ones. Do not alternate between them inside one session or you will learn neither properly. On the faces the same thing applies to both: the rear kicks on take-off. First on our cause list is shock rebound - it returns too fast, so take clicks out. On the short supercross section you will feel the correction sooner than on the long lap.
