Circuito del Jarama lies on the A1 motorway at San Sebastian de los Reyes north of Madrid and has belonged to the Real Automovil Club de Espana since 1981, which also runs it; since February 2022 its official name is Circuito de Madrid Jarama - RACE. Wikipedia dates the opening to 1 July 1967, to a design by John Hugenholtz, who also drew Suzuka. The current lap measures 3.850 km with 14 corners; the track was lengthened in 1991 and upgraded in 2015. Formula One raced here for the Spanish Grand Prix nine times between 1968 and 1981, after which the layout was judged too narrow for modern F1 cars. The Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix came here fifteen times between 1969 and 1988, and the Superbike World Championship in 1991 and 1992. Today the operator markets the venue through driving courses, corporate events and a kart track, and points to a Formula E race in Madrid. What drove Formula One away still defines the place: it is tight, and on tight tarmac the first thing you notice is a bike that will not turn in and pushes wide on the front. Top of our cause list here is a front end sitting too high with correspondingly lazy geometry - slide the fork tubes a little further up through the triple clamps and the bike drops into the corner more willingly.
