Canadian Tire Motorsport Park sits on Concession Road 10 in Bowmanville, Ontario, and opened in May 1961 as Mosport - according to RacingCircuits, Canada's first permanent motor racing facility. The Grand Prix course has been unchanged since 1961; turns 5A and 5B are called Moss Corner because Stirling Moss suggested altering the original hairpin during a circuit tour in 1960. The Canadian Grand Prix ran here from 1967 to 1977. The venue was first run by Mosport Limited, then Cantrack Motor Racing, and from 1998 by Don Panoz; since 2011 it has belonged to a consortium led by Ron Fellows, Alan Boughton and Carlo Fidani. The grounds also hold a kart facility opened in 2004 and a half-mile oval from 1989. Today the operator lists the Grand Prix circuit, the Driver Development Track and the karting track, and hosts a Superbike weekend with several races. Our record holds a fast character, which fits a layout that has been built for speed and left unchanged for over sixty years. Where the bike runs straight at high speed for a long time, any weakness in balance shows up at once: the rear wanders, the bar gets busy, and you keep correcting. Top of our cause list is a ride-height and sag balance that is off, usually a rear sitting too high. Set the sag properly before you touch compression or rebound.
