Ashby Moto Park in Leicestershire is not a pure motocross circuit but a loop in three parts: over a mile of demanding woodland, then a fast open MX section with small jumps, bermed and off-camber corners plus climbs and descents - and an extreme section for the more experienced. In the wet the woodland part drops out, according to the operator, which changes the loop considerably. If you normally ride pure MX tracks, that mixture is exactly the lesson: the woods force slow precision and a feel for traction, the open part rewards speed and jump rhythm. Joining the two in one lap is the real exercise - and the off-camber corners are the test, because hard ground gives you the least to work with there. What to expect on this surface: the front feels vague, with no clear feedback. Top of our list for that is too much air pressure at the front - drop it for a bigger contact patch. Next comes a fork set too stiff to load the front properly.
