Wendelinuspark St. Wendel

1180 metres, 13 turns - and not one metre of it is a purpose-built race circuit. The supermoto course in the Wendelinuspark is stitched together from a main road, the park's car park, the oval of the skate facility and the adjoining off-road section. ADAC Saarland runs it; the town of St. Wendel owns it. It was built to revive the town's motorsport tradition after the old city course closed in 1964. The record is worth reading: the first supermoto World Championship round at this venue was held in 2003, European Championship rounds followed until 2007, World Championship rounds returned in 2008 and 2009, and since 2011 the International German Supermoto Championship has visited the park. The site holds around 15,000 spectators, and there is a separate, shorter nine-turn layout for classic motorcycles. What that means if you ride a course or a training day here: every lap you swap between tarmac and dirt, and the transition is where most riders lose their time. So do not set the bike up for the fastest part of the lap, set it up for the change - a setup that only works on the asphalt is one you punish yourself with in the dirt.
