Terrain de Larchant

In the middle of the Foret Domaniale de la Commanderie, off the D16 south of Fontainebleau, lies the Larchant ground, looked after by the Union Moto Nemourienne. The lap measures 1550 metres at six metres wide; sources describe the layout as a natural trace of earth and sand and call it explicitly very fast and technical at the same time. It opens daily from 9:00 to 19:00, with children on 50cc machines paying 10 euros and adults 15. The offer includes bike, quad and trials machine rental, a dedicated trials area, a clubhouse, a workshop, a shop and a snack bar; the CASM assessment runs every five weeks. Fast and technical in one sentence sounds contradictory, but it is not - it simply means the mistakes get more expensive. On a fast section a wasted corner exit does not cost you a tenth, it costs you the whole straight that follows. What annoys you first in the sandy sections: the rear pogos and swims. First on our cause list is rear rebound that is too fast for sand - fewer clicks out and the back end stops building itself up.
