Track details
Dry hardpack turns hard, slick and dusty - little grip reserve, especially on corner exit.
After rain a greasy film forms on the hard base - very slippery until the surface dries.
St. George MX Park, SGMX for short, sits only minutes from downtown St. George in Utah according to the track directory mxtrackguide. The directory describes a park of around 30 acres with a motocross circuit of about one mile plus additional trails. The layout is built on plenty of elevation change and holds rhythm sections, step-ups, step-downs and tabletops that a beginner can negotiate while still keeping intermediate riders busy. Open practice was not offered there according to the same source. One planning point outweighs everything else: that same directory lists the facility as permanently closed since April 2020. We could not confirm a reachable operator page, and fees, opening hours and signup rules are not publicly documented. A circuit like this is ridden through its jump sequences: when elevation change and rhythm sections set the beat, the take-off decides the next two or three jumps and you rarely roll for long. Our record additionally lists a hard, low-grip surface. Until a source shows the park open again, confirm the operating status before you travel - a trip out there on spec is not worth it here.
