Sebring International Raceway

Sebring International Raceway sits in Sebring, Florida, on the ground of the former Hendricks Army Airfield, which Wikipedia records as a B-17 training base in operation from 1941 to 1946. The same entry gives the current circuit as 6.019 km long with 17 turns, of which roughly 4.89 km are asphalt and about 1.1 km are concrete. Those concrete stretches are what is left of the original wartime runways and consist of individual slabs with wide seams. The 12 Hours of Sebring has been run here since 1950. Sebring International Raceway LLC has operated the venue since 1997, and NASCAR has owned it through IMSA Holdings since September 2012. The surface decides everything here. The slab joints keep the lap restless even in dry weather, and because long fast stretches alternate with tighter technical sections, the chassis works non-stop while you are trying to hold speed. That is exactly where a sloppy baseline shows up: if the bike goes vague through the fast sweepers and starts to float over the seams, top of our cause list is the ride-height and sag balance. When it is off, the machine feels vague at speed - so set sag first, before you start counting clicks.
