RedBud MX

RedBud MX sits north of Buchanan, Michigan, on North Red Bud Trail amid farmland. Gene and Nancy Ritchie bought the property in 1972 together with the Patterson and Miller families, the first races were held in 1973 and the first AMA National followed in 1974. Today the founder's children, Amy and Tim Ritchie, run the place. Three tracks share the grounds: the pro course, a KTM Kids track and a night track used only during the Fourth of July Nationals. The best known single feature is LaRocco's Leap, built in 1991, 120 feet (37 m) long and the longest jump on the circuit, named after Mike LaRocco from Laporte, Indiana, who was the first man to clear it - on a 125. The AMA Pro Motocross round on Fourth of July weekend draws 30,000-plus spectators, and RedBud hosted the Motocross of Nations in 2018 and 2022. Camping for tents, campers and RVs is available over Nationals weekend, along with concessions and food vendors. Our record has this as loam with jumps, fast stretches and off-camber sections - a course that puts you in the air often and far, and lands you just as hard. If the suspension bottoms on landings and the hit arrives at you unfiltered, top of our cause list is rear high-speed compression being too soft: add some so the landing is caught in a controlled way.
