The Erzbergrodeo is not a track in the usual sense but a mountain - the Styrian Erzberg, and for 30 years the global benchmark for hard enduro. The numbers from Sunday's main race explain its reputation better than any description: one mountain, 500 starters, 27 checkpoints, four hours - and only a handful of riders reach the finish. Before that, the prologue runs on Friday and Saturday, each rider taking the course once a day released at 20-second intervals; the Rocket Ride is a timed run up a three-part steep face, with the fastest 48 going through to the superfinal. Nobody who starts here needs setup subtleties - they need fitness, clutch feel and a willingness to get back up.
