MX Mattstedt

The Mattstedt motocross track lies near Apolda in Thuringia and is associated with MSC Mattstedt; alongside the motocross layout the site includes a supercross track. It is best known as Ken Roczen's home track - the track directory run by the motocross retailer MXC lists the rider's management as the contact. Speedweek reported on a spontaneous training day by Roczen during a visit to his home region, which caused a stir among the hobby riders and onlookers present; young riders such as Felix Siegl, son of the multiple German motocross champion Daniel Siegl, also train there. Fixed opening hours and fees are not publicly documented, and the directory explicitly notes that opening status and track condition should be checked before you travel. Our records list a hard, firm surface with jumps and technical sections. On hardpack the front tyre's contact patch decides almost everything: the grip sits in a thin layer, and as soon as the front finds too little of it the feel goes vague and you stop trusting yourself to load the front wheel. Top of our cause list for that is too much front tyre pressure - lower it so the tyre gets a bigger patch on the hard ground.
