Track details
Dry loam is the ideal case: grippy, forms lines and forgives mistakes.
After rain loam turns heavy and sticky - knobs pack up and the bike feels noticeably heavier.
Eugene MX Park sits at 92500 Territorial Hwy in Junction City, Oregon; Ryan Leach is listed as owner and promoter. Regular practice runs on Sundays from 10am to 3pm and costs 35 dollars per rider. On race days a 10 dollar gate fee applies, spectators also pay 10 dollars, children six and under are free, and entry is 40 dollars for the first class and 30 dollars for the second. Riders arriving on the Saturday before a race pay 10 dollars for camping. The backbone of the calendar is a ten-round winter series with practice from 10am and racing around noon. The operator also promotes an arenacross series in Albany and Salem, which runs at fairgrounds rather than at this track; there, 50cc riders are quoted half the race fee for the whole season. Our record has loam as the surface, with a layout defined by its jumps. Loam builds take-off faces that get sharper as the day goes on - and the later the practice day, the more likely you are to take a hit from behind just before the wheel leaves the ground. Top of our cause list is rear rebound that is too fast: it returns on the face and throws the rear up. Slow it by winding a few clicks back in, and the bike stays flatter in the air.
