Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmelo, north of Barcelona, opened on 10 September 1991, with construction starting in February 1989. The current Grand Prix layout measures 4.657 kilometres with 14 turns; with the chicane it becomes 4.675 kilometres and 16 turns. The pit straight is 1,047 metres long and counts as the decisive overtaking zone. The track was resurfaced in 2018, explicitly to improve grip for motorcycles, and before that in 2004. Turn 12 was rebuilt after the fatal crash of Luis Salom in 2016, and motorcycles have since used a layout close to the Formula 1 configuration. The operator lists the MotoGP round, GT series, touring cars and, from October 2026, a World Endurance Championship race; tests, courses and track bookings are handled by the venue itself, which also cites several environmental and sustainability certifications. Our records hold a character that is technical and fast at once, and that is where the typical problem comes from: through the long open radii the bike carries a lot of speed, and if the ride height is off it feels vague mid-corner and drifts. Top of our cause list is a ride-height and sag balance that was never set. Measure and set sag before you touch damping.
