Central Montana Motocross

Central Montana Motocross, or CMMX, is not a single track but a club running its own race series; it is based in Helena, Montana, with mail going to a PO box there. The club describes its purpose as grass roots, family oriented, low stress racing with quality tracks and lots of seat time. Racing happens at the member clubs' venues: Last Chance Raceway about eight miles east of Helena on York Road (Last Chance Riders Association), the Electric City Dirt Riders track about three miles north-east of Great Falls in Black Eagle, BIG AIR Montana outside Wilsall, Stone Creek Raceway just outside Dillon (Beaverhead Dirt Riders Association), the Anaconda track off Lost Creek Road, and the Billings Motorcycle Club. The 2026 calendar runs 13 rounds between April 25 and August 8, mostly paired across a single weekend, with stops in Airway Heights near Spokane, Dillon, Anaconda, Great Falls, Billings and Helena. The binding regulations are published by the club as a 2026 rulebook download. Our own record has the ground down as hardpack with jumps, and since the series moves across six different venues that is the one constant you can prepare for. On hard ground the grip sits on top: the front feels vague because the tyre barely digs in. Top of our cause list for that is too much front tyre pressure - lower it so the contact patch grows and the front gives you a clear signal again.
