Barona Oaks MX

83 acres on Wildcat Canyon Road near Lakeside in San Diego County, at a good 1,600 feet: Barona Oaks runs three groomed and watered courses plus a dedicated beginner training area. The main track is built in national style with 40-foot doubles, 90-foot tables, a big 110 double, whoops and railing berms; alongside it sit a vet track with long sweeping turns and a peewee track. Open practice is documented for most weekends, Saturday 9:00 to 14:00 and Sunday 9:00 to 15:00. Camping with showers and restrooms, potable water, RV hookups and bleachers are part of it; quads and UTVs stay outside. The vet track here is not a consolation prize. If your jump rhythms fall apart on the main course, the cause usually sits in the corner exits before them - and long sweepers are the most honest tool for practising exactly that. On firm ground the first thing to hit you is this: the front feels vague and finds no bite. Top of our cause list is too much front tyre pressure - drop it and the contact patch grows.
